Windows operating system end-of-life January 2020
19 September 2019

On 14 January 2020, Microsoft will be ending Extended Support for several operating systems, including:

  • Windows 7
  • Windows Server 2008
  • Windows Server 2008 R2

'End-of-life' (EOL) is the declared date when Microsoft ceases support for a product. This effectively means no bug fixes, security patches or new functionality for that version of software. Use of the software after the EOL date significantly increases susceptibility to malware attacks and increases the likelihood of defects with the software. This means that any business using a workstation or server that continues to use these products will significantly increase the risk of data loss, theft, ransom or destruction.

In order for us to make the best use of our resources and deliver innovative new product features, it's prudent to focus our development on Microsoft's range of supported operating systems. We recommend that you start planning and budgeting to upgrade your affected systems today.

Effective from January 2020:

  • Minfos will no longer test its software for compatibility with unsupported versions of Windows.
  • Customers raising any issues against unsupported versions of Windows will first be required to upgrade the operating system before Minfos can help resolve the issue.

To enable Minfos to continue to provide effective support for your systems in 2020, please ensure your pharmacy is running the latest supported Windows operating system. If you require assistance in identifying and upgrading your systems, please contact your hardware vendor directly.
